Quebec’s first FCEV delivered to customer

First-Tucson-FCEV-Delivered-in-Quebec-650A Quebec man was recently handed the keys to a 2016 Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell vehicle, the first to arrive in the province.

The customer is Paul-Yvan Deschenes with the Centre de Gestion de l’Equipment Roulant (CGER), which manages vehicle fleets for Quebec provincial ministries. The lease is in partnership with the Hydrogen Research Institute of Trois-Rivieres at Universite du Quebec a Trois-Riviere, where the vehicle will be refueled.

Quebec is the third province to put the Tucson FCEV in the hands of consumers. A small number of Tucson FCEVs are out on the roads in British Columbia, and the first Ontario customer received a FCEV in the spring of 2016.

“It’s no coincidence that we can find the advanced Tucson Fuel Cell in three of Canada’s most populous provinces,” said Don Romano, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada, in a written release.

“When we took that first necessary step with the technology in bringing the Tucson Fuel Cell into the market, it ignited conversations with government, customers, and infrastructure companies across the country. The interest and demand for Fuel Cell vehicles is palpable. As access to hydrogen refueling facilities improves, so too will Hyundai’s Fuel Cell vehicle. I am immensely proud to be with Hyundai at the forefront of this burgeoning movement.”
